Front Report

weatercock Here’s the latest breaking news from the W7 news room: late last night, the wife calls. Apparently, her handbag got stolen in Geneva, with purse and blackberry and the works. I say OK, pick up the phone and set to work, canceling plastic.

With both of us where we were, and myself in full access of all the paperwork, phone and card numbers needed, we could have outrun the most professional thieves. Turns out they were not; while I was still holding the line for the second call, the good wife calls again. All has been found.

Has it been misplaced? Hidden underneath a jacket? Lost and returned?

No, it has been stolen all right. The thieves quickly proceeded to analyze the content of the bag and count their new riches, but fortunately -for us- they did so just outside the police station. The police in Geneva boosted their crime detection rate by stepping outside of the building and arresting the fellows.

Everything returned, and no conceivable risk of any prints of copies being taken. I feel like we have just used up our good luck allowance for the next 12 months, but prefer not to challenge it.

  1. I feel the same – I can still not believe that I had so much luck. Lesson learned: hold on to your bag – the villains are everywhere (even in Switzerland, of which my colleagues boast that it is very safe….)

  2. Wow, that’s lucky, imagine thieves getting their hands on it and cops finding them right away!! wow!!
