Recent intensive gift wrapping sessions made me wonder: in our council’s recycling scheme, gift wrapping paper is excluded from the paper collection. I wonder why that is? Surely, used gift wrapping paper comes with a lot of glossy paint and shiny things and glitter and sticky tape, which all make the recycling process less efficient. On the other hand, so does my daily delivery of junk mail, and this does get collected without problem.
So, what stops them from recycling gift wrapping paper?
